“Vi” is the collective “we”

August 29th we open "Villa Vi" - a shop that gathers thoughtfully crafted products from designers, artists, and craftspersons from around Denmark but primarily from this local area. Shopping as locally-as-possible and with a focus on sustainability, upcycling and craftsmanship is at the core of the vision. We will also serve a really great cup of coffee roasted fresh and local - of course! 😊

The definition of "Villa" is 'a house on its own grounds'. We love the word because a villa is a house and in a house is usually gathered a group of related or unrelated people at some moment in time. Often a family whether traditional or not. And "on its own ground" of course refers to the physical space but we think that having one's own ground is about having a foundation.

And in English "standing on your own ground" is about staying firm on your beliefs. Another thing to like about the reference to this word. And as a house (a "villa") we set the foundation for bringing more life to this little corner in Sorgenfri. For bringing people together and creating what may come of that.

The "Vi" is "we" in Danish. And it feels so right and natural to be referring, in the name, to everyone, a collective “we”, that comes to this house, that works here, visits here, connects with others here, and genuinely gets inspired here. 🌈🙌🤩
